The logic of the university transition to the target model through the establishment of the Institute of Biomedicine (IB) is connected with understanding the pace of technological revolution development and its diversified consequences. Appendix I presents the context of transformation and TSU position in the changing system of labor division and an economic model.
The purpose of creating of IB is formation of an internationally recognized centre for education, research and innovation activity in the field of biomedical technologies improving the quality of human life and providing active longevity. A key challenge in developing the IB for translational biomedicine (via creating a consortium with the leading research and clinical institutions) is educating the skilled staff and arranging effective technology transfer into clinical practice.
IB is focused on interdisciplinary academic programmes, which are based on the results of research centres of excellence and technological projects with the leading companies. Training the experts with complex transdisciplinary competences will ensure providing personnel to the advanced high-tech companies focused on the development of personalized medicine, cellular, genomic, post-genomic, and metabolomic technologies for fighting with the socially significant diseases.
